I’m going with week 20 of AYOP!

My crafty plans for the week were to start a pair of Christmas socks, which I have done. I finished the first sock, but I haven’t started the second one yet. The yarn I chose is Area 51 Fibres in the Sturdy Alien base in the A Little bit Grinchy colourway. I am enjoying the colourway, but I don’t see how it represents the Grinch. Anyway, my goal for this week is to at least start the second sock and hopefully, make it to the heel.

I also reviewed my plans for the year, which helped motivate me to pick up my poncho. I knit approximately three inches. My plan for this next week is to knit two inches.

My goals for next week are to also pick a summer top to start working on. We have had a very cold Spring so far, so it’s hard to get motivated for Summer, but I would love to complete it so I can enjoy wearing it during Summer.

What week is it???

It feels like it’s been at least eight weeks since I last posted. In that time, I started a new job. That just happens to be night shift, so I never seem to know what day it is. It has taken several weeks to get my sleep right. And even now, I feel a little off. I was sick with a cold all last week. And I feel that my crafting time has taken a hit.

I have managed to complete two small projects since I last posted. The pattern is Hallow Sampler by The Primitive Needle. The linen is by handmadenumber12. From memory, it was 46 count. I did change out a few of the called for colours. It was such a fun stitch.

My second project was a pair of Rose City Rollers knit with Area 51 fibres in The Pumpkin Spice Cafe colourway.

My next knitting project will be Christmas socks in the A Little Bit Grinchy colourway by Area 51 Fibres. I hope everyone is doing well. I will do my best to do the rounds of everyone’s blogs.

Year of Projects Week 9 of 52

I have very little to post about this week. I cast on a new shawl and managed to get a little stitching done. My motivation is all over the place, much like our weather. We had a few nice days followed by a week of wet and windy conditions. We do have a couple of nice days at the end of the week that cannot arrive quick enough.

I continued stitching Le Marquoir de Marie-Andree. At this stage, I am planning for the first alphabet to have the same two colours. For September, I may start a Halloween sampler to continue with Spooky Summer SAL and Sampler September SAL.

I cast on another Hitchhiker, because everyone needs six, right? The yarn is Yarn Ink in the Woodland colourway. This will be my car knitting over the next few months.

I hope everyone has a productive week.

Year of Projects Week 7 of 52

I feel like I have achieved very little in the last two weeks. I did start a new project last week. Other than that, my time has been spent in the garden when the weather has allowed and getting ready for a spring clean.

The pattern I have started is Le Marquoir de Marie-Andree by Reflets de Soie. My original plan was to use red cotton or silk, but I love the idea of using different shades of grey cotton. The linen is 46 count. I’m looking at this project as a long-term project.

Hopefully I will achieve more this week. I hope everyone else is having a great week.

Year of Projects Week 5 of 52 – The week my mojo went missing

I have struggled all week with my motivation. I haven’t picked out new linen for Kringles or stitched on Grimms. I did start and finish one project; however, as it’s only 120 stitches, I’m not overly impressed with myself.

The pattern is a motif from the Teeny Halloweenies from Not Forgotten Farm. I used a scrap of 40-count linen.

I hope everyone else has had a more productive week than I have.

Year of Projects Week 4 of 52

I have finished my second project for the Spooky Summer SAL. The pattern is Gourdness Gracious by Brenda Gervais. The Linen is 40 count in the Colourway Decrepit by Number12StitchCo. I had a great deal of fun stitching this.

At this stage I’m not sure if I’ll frame it or turn it into a pillow. I only managed around 50 stitches on the Grimms pattern. So I didn’t see the point in taking a photo. My next project start in July is Kringles by Little House Needleworks. My plan was to stitch it on 36 count with one thread, but after stitching around 100 stitches, I realised that the coverage doesn’t look full enough. I’m not a fan of stitching with two threads. So I now have to decide if I want to stitch it on 40 or 46 count linen.

I haven’t started any new shows this week as I have been reading and watching podcasts. Happy Crafting!

Year of Projects Week 3 of 52

Thank you for all the lovely Birthday messages for yesterday. My DH took me out for lunch on Friday, as I wanted to spend my birthday at home relaxing. It was great to have a sleep-in and take things slowly.

I have two starts and one finish. I started and finished The Black Cat Watch by Brenda Gervais. I stitched it on 40-count linen by Number 12 Stitch Co. The frame I used was originally gold, but I had my DH spray one coat of black paint. It turned out so well. I love how old it looks. I still plan to stitch the other two patterns in the set.

The second project I started was the Grimm’s Fairy Tales by Clouds Factory. I started on Saturday as my threads only arrived Friday afternoon. The linen I’m using is 36-count Fiber on a Whim in Bean Stalk.

I also started a new book this week. Anthony Horowitz is by far my favourite modern Who-dun-it writer.

My plans for the next week are to continue stitching on Grimm and Gourdness gracious.

AYOP Week 2(Birthday Week)

This week, I made progress on only one project. The pattern is Gourdness Gracious by With Thy Needle & Thread. The linen is 40 count in the Colourway Decrepit by Number12StitchCo. I am using all of the called-for threads, except one. I switched out Weeks Charcoal for Weeks Onyx.

As this week is my Birthday (19th), I am allowing myself to start a few projects without feeling shame or guilt, lol. Of the five projects I have picked, four are on my project list for the year.

I have the fabric for all of the projects and the thread for two. I placed an order for the remaining threads. I am hoping they arrive early this week.

The one knitting project I have picked is a Hitchhiker Shawl. I have knit this shawl several times. It is the perfect size when you need something light around your neck without too much bulk. The yarn I have picked is Yarn Ink in the Woodland colourway.

AYOP Update

This week’s post is intended to be a wrap-up of the year, but since I haven’t been here long enough, I thought I would just do a normal blog post.

I apologise for the lack of light. It has been so dark here for the last few days. I tried several different rooms, and this was the best photo I could get.

Pattern: Mud Season Yarn: Rauma Vams Size: Medium

I came across a Floss tuber called Sullystitches_ You can also find her on Instagram. She is having a SAL called Spooky Summer SAL. Although it’s winter here and I feel like I should be stitching on a Christmas pattern,I couldn’t help myself. I am starting with Gourdness Gracious by With Thy Needle And Thread

I am using all the called for threads except for Weeks Charcoal. I only had Weeks Onyx. Also the pattern called for 36 count linen. I am using 40 count linen from Number12StitchCo.

Currently Watching: I only managed to watch the MotoGP on the weekend.
